Dürkopp Adler is hundredth member of it´s OWL
The top cluster it’s OWL is growing further and meets with ever-increasing interest in the regional economy. Today it’s OWL welcomed the Bielefeld sewing technology specialist Dürkopp Adler as its 100th member.
Dietrich Eickhoff, Managing Director of Dürkopp Adler AG, explains: „Intelligent automation,
intuitive operation and holistic product development play a more and more important role with
regard to our sewing technology solutions. The top cluster offers us an excellent possibility to
explore our optimization potentials in these fields. Furthermore, we obtain access to current
research knowledge and new technologies. The exchange of experience as well as the cooperation
within the network are a great plus for us.
Günter Korder, General Manager of it´s OWL Clustermanagement GmbH: „The increasing response
shows that the networking idea of it’s OWL is working well and our offers meet the needs of the
industry. Especially small and medium-sized enterprises see the opportunity to benefit from the new
technologies of the top cluster and the high supra-regional attention.“
In the it´s OWL e.V. the partners of the top cluster – firms, high schools,
research institutions and organisations – bundle their interests. The association is the sole
shareholder of the it´s OWL Clustermanagement GmbH. Its chairman is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen
Gausemeier (Heinz Nixdorf Institut), vice chairmen are Hans Beckhoff (Managing partner of Beckhoff
Automation) and Dr. Eduard Sailer (General Manager Miele). Business agent of the association is the
East-Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The top cluster it´s OWL
In the top cluster it‘s OWL – Intelligent Technical Systems East-Westphalia Lippe – firms and
research institutions are working together to develop solutions for intelligent products and
production systems. The spectrum ranges from intelligent automation and drive solutions to
machines, vehicles and household appliances and up to linked production plants. Honoured in the top
cluster competition of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, it’s OWL is considered as
one of the largest initiatives for the industry. Since the start of it’s OWL(mid 2012) about 5,000
new jobs have been created in the cluster companies as well as 500 positions for scientists in high
schools and research institutions. Six new research organisations have been set up and 14 new
courses of studies have emerged in the field of intelligent technical systems.
